{"id":1337,"date":"2014-10-23T18:18:06","date_gmt":"2014-10-23T18:18:06","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/cu54p.hosts.cx\/?p=1337"},"modified":"2015-10-05T17:08:58","modified_gmt":"2015-10-05T17:08:58","slug":"feeding-the-5k-and-1st-food-waste-forum","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/www.paulapalooza.live\/feeding-the-5k-and-1st-food-waste-forum\/","title":{"rendered":"Feeding the 5K and 1st Food Waste Forum"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><a href=\"\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/10\/MG-0265.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"alignnone size-large wp-image-1531\" src=\"\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/10\/MG-0265-1024x682.jpg\" alt=\"TristramDanaJonathan\" width=\"640\" height=\"426\" srcset=\"http:\/\/www.paulapalooza.live\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/10\/MG-0265-1024x682.jpg 1024w, http:\/\/www.paulapalooza.live\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/10\/MG-0265-300x200.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 640px) 100vw, 640px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>We just had a delicious experience in Berkley CA!<\/p>\n<p>The first <a href=\"http:\/\/www.ncrarecycles.org\/ZeroFoodWasteForum\">Zero Food Waste Forum<\/a> in the US and the first <a href=\"http:\/\/feedbackglobal.org\/campaigns\/feeding-the-5000\/\">Feeding the 5K event<\/a> kicked off\u00a0 with a gleaning event at <a href=\"http:\/\/www.bloomfieldorganics.com\/\">Bloomfield Organics<\/a>. These wonderful farmers opened their fields to us and prepared an amazing dinner to share in their barn. Grant and I got to gleen kale with good folks from organizations like <a href=\"http:\/\/www.foodrecoverynetwork.org\/\">Food Recovery Network<\/a>, <a href=\"http:\/\/www.sustainableamerica.org\/\">Sustainable America<\/a>, and <a href=\"http:\/\/foodshift.net\/\">Food Shift<\/a>. Not to mention our superstar organizer <a href=\"https:\/\/www.linkedin.com\/pub\/jordan-figueiredo\/18\/b78\/781\">Jordan Figueirdo <\/a>(who by now must know someone from every food waste and food rescue organization in the country.)<\/p>\n<p>The forum started the next morning with a special screening of Just Eat It. We were thrilled to sit alongside all three\u00a0 of our &#8220;food waste rock star&#8221; interviewees to answer questions afterwards. If you had told us 2 years ago that we would get\u00a0 <a href=\"http:\/\/switchboard.nrdc.org\/blogs\/dgunders\/\">Dana Gunders<\/a>, <a href=\"http:\/\/www.tristramstuart.co.uk\/\">Tristram Stuart<\/a> and <a href=\"http:\/\/www.wastedfood.com\/\">Jonathan Bloom<\/a> all on the same stage, we wouldn&#8217;t have believed it.<\/p>\n<p>The day progressed with incredible speakers from food rescue organizations, and tech companies to <a href=\"http:\/\/www.feedingamerica.org\/\">Feeding America<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>More importantly, people were really walking the talk. The forum lunch for all 300 people was rescued leftovers from a different conference (!) and some off the offerings were gleaned from local urban fruit trees (thanks you <a href=\"https:\/\/fallingfruit.org\/\">Falling Fruit<\/a> and <a href=\"http:\/\/foodshift.net\/\">Food Shift)<\/a>. The next day a whole whack of people served up rescued food to thousands of people in Oakland in the first Feeding the 5K event in the US.<\/p>\n<p>Things are really happening around food waste, and we feel so privileged to be part of this inspiring movement!<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>We just had a delicious experience in Berkley CA!
